About BioSafe Technologies, Inc.

BioSafe Technologies, Inc was incorporated in 2000 to further develop, clinically test and create a distribution of nontoxic pesticide formulations for eliminating parasites and other blood sucking insects such as mites and lice affecting humans and animals. The active ingredients were discovered by its founder, Lynn James-Meyer during field testing in Brazil in the early 1990s. The formulations were brought to the US and obtained worldwide patents and further tested for safety and efficiency. All function as cleansers and do not contain poisonous insecticides.

Since 2003 BioSafe based the majority of its business as an exporter supplying overseas distributors. It contracted with several filling facilities in the Dallas, Texas area for bulk packaging of its headlice shampoo in 1000 liter totes. These are exported to various locations in Europe for further private labeling and distribution by several large pharmaceutical companies. Product is sold in Europe and other countries in children’s specialized lines of products.

BioSafe has successfully worked with the US EXIM Bank Export Program to support the growth of the company since 2009. A testament to the success of that partnership was Lynn’s selection as Global Exporter of the Year in 2016 by the Dallas Branch of the Global Chamber where she serves on the Board Advisory Committee. As a woman owned company, she also received various awards for Women in Business in 2017.

U.S. EXIM Bank Funding for Biosafe

EXIM’s export credit insurance product provided two solutions for BioSafe. First, BioSafe received a line of credit from their commercial lender by covering the accounts receivables generated by international sales. The additional cash flow enabled BioSafe to purchase raw materials, outsource manufacturing and meet the timeframes required by international customers. Second, export credit insurance empowered BioSafe to offer open account credit terms and provided peace-of-mind by protecting the company from nonpayment by foreign buyers.

“EXIM allowed us to take on a large customer overseas. We never would have expanded our exports without the support offered by EXIM. We could take on multiple orders, pay our vendors on time and offer better terms to our customers without concern for receipt of payment.”
Lynn James-Meyer, Founder and CEO

Natureza® Research

Biosafe formed a sister company, Natureza® Research, Inc. to continue the research and development of antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antiparasitic formulations affecting endoparasites in humans and animals. This company is managed by several of the Board from BioSafe Technologies®, Inc. The new discoveries have received patents and have patents pending which now are owned and licensed in part from Natureza® Research, Inc.

Antimicrobial-Resistant infections are rising worldwide, yet the development pathway remains weak (WHO 2019). Developing a novel antimicrobial approach takes 10–15 years and over $1 billion, but resistance can emerge within months, discouraging innovation—only two new classes have been created in 40 years. Lab studies show resistance evolving in days (Baym et al. 2016). We urgently need antibiotics with novel targets that resist resistance. Most critical pathogens are Gram-negative ESKAPE organisms, though some Gram-positives, like vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium, are also high priority. New solutions must not only kill resistant bacteria but also prevent resistance from developing.

Extensive laboratory studies have demonstrated that Natureza’s antimicrobial active systems exhibit strong in-vitro activity against challenging and highly resistant organisms, including Candida auris and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Building on these findings, the Company is advancing development through non-clinical laboratory validation focused on formulation performance, durability, and application-specific use cases. By targeting non-systemic surface and topical applications, this approach is designed to reduce the selective pressures that commonly drive resistance, while significantly lowering development timelines and regulatory complexity. This strategy enables faster translation of validated antimicrobial performance into real-world solutions and creates a capital-efficient pathway toward commercial and public-health impact.

Natureza® Research builds on scientific and technical work initiated by its parent company, BioSafe Technologies, Inc., a Texas-based organization founded in 2000 that has supported early-stage research in antimicrobial and antiparasitic technologies. This work has focused on the identification and formulation of bioactive compounds with potential applications in microbial control and infection prevention.
